Overview

The Boundaries Review Commission (BRC) is a standing committee within the Pentecostal Assemblies of God-Kenya (PAG-Kenya). It is an independent body whose primary responsibility is to manage the geographical and status-related structure of the church's various administrative levels.

1. Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Commission is tasked with several critical administrative functions:

i.Boundary Reviews: It reviews District boundaries once every three years.

ii.Status Upgrades: It is responsible for upgrading branch churches to Assembly status and conferring full autonomy status upon qualified Assemblies.

iii.Arbitration and Consultation: Before reaching decisions on boundaries or status, the Commission must listen to all interested parties.

iv.Record Maintenance: It maintains accurate, official records of all existing Assemblies and Districts.

2.Composition and Appointment

To ensure broad representation across the country, the Commission is composed of representatives from the following regions:

i.Western Region: Two representatives.

ii.Other Regions: One representative each from Kisii, Coast/Nairobi, Central, Rift Valley, and Lake/Siaya.

Members are appointed by the Executive Committee and serve a term of seven years.

3. Qualifications for Members

Individuals serving on the Boundaries Review Commission must meet high standards of experience and leadership, including:

  • Mature pastoral experience and demonstrated ability.
  • Previous service as a member of the Church Council.
  • Having been ordained for at least fifteen (15) years.

4. Operational Independence

A defining feature of the Commission is its autonomy. In the performance of its duties, the Commission is not subject to the direction of any person or authority. While it must comply with the PAG-Kenya Constitution and the laws of Kenya, it creates its own internal rules for regulating its business. Additionally, anyone who has served on the Commission is disqualified from being nominated as a District Overseer.
